I’m Rowan — an IT technician by day, running infrastructure (Active Directory, access control, print management) for a UK school trust, and a homelabber by night, running considerably more infrastructure than any one household needs.
My homelab is a three-node Proxmox cluster backed by TrueNAS storage, VLAN-segmented networking, and a growing security stack (Wazuh, Authentik SSO, Vaultwarden) — partly because I enjoy building things properly, and partly because it’s the best training ground I’ve found for where I actually want to go next: security operations. I’m working toward a SOC analyst role, practising alert triage and incident analysis alongside my day job.
On the side, I do freelance web development and hosting for a handful of clients in the UK and South Africa — this site included.
